Here we are the night before 'blast off' and we are still trying to figure what we can leave behind in order to get our suitcases to close! It's the same old story, so I know it will all be fine. Maybe we need a last minute crisis to get our adrenalin flowing.
The intent was also to interject a bit of the activity leading up to the trip. Somehow starting the blog at the point of arriving at Leonardo da Vinci airport in Rome is a bit abrupt. As we like to think of the blog as a 'digital diary' of our own experiences, it is fun (at least for us when we look back at this several years from now!) to understand the context of the experience. It is a bit like the holiday season where the anticipation is sometimes more fun that the celebration itself. That being said, we did not position ourselves well to record the preamble! What follows is a weak attempt to tell the story of the events preceding this first blog post. Pardon our reach but we are going back three months! Short snippets of the winter of 2019.
(also, a final note that the Blogger format for setting this up has changed a bit from previous years, so we are still working on the format and a range of posting issues that we don't fully understand right now! Bear with us as we figure things out.)
