Il Lunedì Inizia Una Nuova Settimana

Very nice to wake up to a quiet Monday morning.  The energy of the holiday and the celebratory weekend has faded a bit and things might be back to normal!
haha......not sure why people don't smile more at breakfast!........bad timing on the photo I guess!
Everyone looks seriously hungover!

I took my coffee outside!

In the spirit of the day, we have only minor excursions planned.  The weather continues to be amazing.......so we have decided to head to Nervi and do a walk through the lower harbor area and back up the main shopping street, Via Guglielmo Oberdan....a bit weird?  Anyway, the trip was a success as we found a nice children's store and left with clothes for Addie, Grady and Boyd!

Our 'Adventuremobile at the front gate!'

Swimming Pool Bogliasco style!
Sea is a bit rougher today

Nervi Harbor

We then headed up the coast to find a place called Boccadasse, just south of Genova.  Robin and Margie had been there for lunch on Friday and said it was fun.......and Ivana had recommended it as well.  It was a bit difficult to get to, but we finally succeeded.  It was maybe not as scenic as we had hoped, but it had a wonderful Gelateria......great for a late morning treat! We made it back to the Villa right at 12:45, lunch time! and a coffee on the terrace.

The afternoon pattern continued with a lazy nap - actually the italian word is 'pisolino.'  A bit of painting and a decision around 4:00 to head down to the harbor in Bogliasco.  We wanted to try a small bar that sits right on on the rocks as the coast turns into the harbor.  Believe it or not, it is called the 'Kiki Bar!'  It is small, with only 5 tables right on the water.  We spent almost an hour with drinks (spritz and G&T) and a tray of chips, peanuts and olives......totally wonderful.  This is clearly a place to return to.

Dinner was a bit early tonight at 7:15 because we had a combination piano recital/reading at the Villa.  The piece was called "The Patagonian Fox."

The main salon was very crowded with rows of chairs, tightly packed and all occupied. The pianist began playing and the music was interspersed with the reading of the short story - completely in Italian! While we caught some phrases and words here and there, almost all of it was beyond our understanding. Afterwards, cookies and prosecco were served.  A few people from our group here at the villa slipped away fairly early as they are headed to Cinque Terre in the morning on the 7am train.

this is the living 'salon' space reconfigured to fit 45 seats!!!

the front entrance was open for the event

crowded but fun after the event
