Beautiful Day.........walking and relaxing (almost!)

This morning we awoke to a perfect sunny day, so following breakfast we decided to walk along the Passiagata in Nervi, the town just next to Bogliasco.  The Passeggiata is a beautiful pedestrian walkway running all along the sea, with several restaurants and cafes tucked into the rocks, as well as bathing clubs and just a few tiny shops. We drove to the train station in Nervi, parked and began our walk. Seems like others had the same idea and within five minutes we ran into two other people from the Villa doing the same thing......an amazing day for some exercise!

After a long walk, we returned to the car and drove up the hillside above Nervi to San Ilario, a tiny village perched high above the main road.  Getting up there is a little hair-raising, as the 'road' is only one lane wide and presents one hairpin turn after another.  But we eventually made it to the top and admired the view down over Nervi and out to sea......beautiful lighting and vistas all the way to France, with Mont Blanc even visible.

We returned to the villa for lunch and the 'arrival' of my shoes, which had been sent from our hotel in Porto San Stefano! Following lunch we did our first laundry in the washing machine - that was an adventure.  The blue jeans should be dry in a week or two - no dryer, as electricity is so horribly expensive in Italy.

After working and reading a bit, we decided to head down to the shops in Bogliasco to pick up a few odds and ends.  The walk was pleasant, the sun was out and the town was relatively quiet......except for the piazza where the younger children all gather with their moms and nannies after school to run around, scream a bit and play soccer.  It is fun to watch!

We got what we needed at the store and were totally lazy in walking back, stopping several times to just sit on a bench and look at the sea.  We grabbed a coffee at Bar Centro and finally made it back to the Villa by around 6:00.  Drinks and dinner were very nice and we spent some time on the terrace.

After dinner, however, was a bit more strenuous.......as the discussion got into a tedious back and forth on politics.  That drifted way out into esoteric ramblings on several people's fields of interest (painful at best) and we retreated back to our room around 10:30.

We hope this type of digression does not happen again! or we are headed out for an evening walk!
